Marvel Avengers Directors’ New Film Reportedly Has $300M Budget
The Russo Brothers are in the business of blockbusters, and their upcoming film might be Netflix’s biggest to date.
Its budget? A reported $300m.
To put that in context, their previous biggest budget is 2022’s The Grey Man, which starred Ryan Gosling and Chris Pratt. With a $200m budget, it’s $100m less than The Electric State.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Simon St?lenhag, The Electric State sees a girl team up with a robot to look for her missing brother.
A large portion of the budget probably went to the starry cast. It features Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt in the lead roles, alongside Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, and Jason Alexander.
Added to that, The Electric State also features the voices of Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, Anthony Mackie, and Billy Bob Thornton.
First announced in December 2017 when Anthony and Joe Russo acquired the rights to the graphic novel, principal photography began in October 2022. Filming officially wrapped in early February 2023, but the crew returned for reshoots from March 20 to April 5.
The Electric State releases on Netflix in 2024. But will it be bigger than Marvel’s tentpole release? After all, Deadpool and Wolverine is the most watched trailer ever.
