Gold Derby’s official guess for Fuzzy Peas is … Oscar De La Hoya! Don’t believe us? Let’s examine all of the clues so far, one by one:
Audio Clues
Here is what Fuzzy Peas had to say about himself: “If you had told me one day I would be dressing up as Fuzzy Peas, I would tell you, ‘Hey, absolutely, I believe you!’ He’s silly, he’s suave, but also looks like a conqueror. You see, I am third generation in my field, and we all fought for what we believe in. Add a dash of my mother’s passion music, and now I’m known for my hits, some of them Grammy-nominated. Delicioso! I even fulfilled her dying wish of securing a gold record. That’s what makes this sauce very special. Now I, Fuzzy Peas, am here as captain of my destiny because I never say no to a challenge … or a fiesta. Maestro, la musica!” Oscar was raised in a boxing family, with his father and grandfather both playing the sport. He is also a Grammy nominee for his self-titled 2001 album.

Visual Clues
On-screen hints during Fuzzy Peas’ video package include the following: watermelons, apples, peppers, pears, corn, a rubber chicken, an Xbox remote, and a globe made of gold. The controller is a reference to Oscar appearing on video game covers like of EA Sports’ Fight Night Round 3 and Knockout Kings. And the globe’s color is a wink to his nickname, “The Golden Boy of Boxing,” due in part because of his various gold medal titles from the world of boxing.
In-Person Clues
Following his performance of “La Bamba,” Fuzzy Peas revealed: “I was nominated with Shakira and Christina Aguilera.” Oscar was a nominee at the 2001 Grammys in Best Latin Pop Album alongside Shakira (who won), Aguilera, Luis Miguel, and Alejandro Sanz. Well, it doesn’t get much clearer than that!
