Matt Reeves Teases New Details From The Batman 2
A new interview with Matt Reeves has landed ahead of The Penguin premiering on HBO next week, and while the series' showrunner dashed fans hopes with the new announcement that Robert Pattinson would not be making an appearance, Reeves has given The Batman fans something to look forward to.
Set to release in 2026, The Batman Part II has been keeping all details under lock and key outside of the fact that Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright will star.
However, Reeves has now offered up his first bit of information to SFX Magazine, saying this next chapter will "dig into the epic story about deeper corruption and it goes into places he couldn't even anticipate in the first one".
Does it give us much to go off? No. However, The Batman fans are ready to take all they can get considering The Batman Part II was delayed, leaving fans devastated at the release date shifting from October 3, 2025, to October 2, 2026.
The Batman released in 2022 to rapturous praise from critics who gave it a Certified Fresh score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes and nominated it for three Critics Choice Awards: Best Hair & Makeup, Best Score, and Best Visual Effects.
Reeves' film also scored three Academy Award nominations although it didn't take any home.
Nonetheless, people are excited to have their first slither of info from Reeves. More will likely be teased throughout The Penguin, although showrunner, Lauren LeFranc, says this series will offer "a different perspective."
