It’s not often that Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves McConaughey give fans a glimpse of their three kids, and that’s certainly their prerogative. However, it makes it that much more special on the rare occasion they do — like the sweet throwback photo of the couple with Levi, Livingston and Vida (now 11, 10, and 7) that Camila shared to commemorate Memorial Day on Monday. And the inspiring reason she picked that particular photo will fill you with patriotic pride.
In the photo, Camila, Matthew and their three little ones stand in a courtroom. Camila holds Vida, Matthew holds Livingston, and eldest child Levi stands in front of them, sweetly clutching his little brother’s leg. This isn’t just any family photo, though. Rather, it marks a very special occasion for Camila and honors a memory particularly fitting to share on Memorial Day.

Camila, who married Matthew in 2012, was born and raised in Brazil. “Five years ago I was grateful to receive my American citizenship and not a day goes by that I am [not] proud to be a part of this country,” she captioned the snapshot. “For the soldiers and workers who have fought hard for our rights and freedoms, thank you, today and everyday.”

What an incredible testimony! Camila’s love for our country radiates in her actions lately, too. In recent weeks, she and Matthew have been hitting the road to deliver face masks to hospitals all over rural Texas in need. The husband-and-wife duo has also been doing their part to ensure other first responders, such as firefighters and police officers, have the equipment they need to protect them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After sharing a short video in early April of the two delivering boxes of supplies, Camila encouraged others to do whatever they can to help during this unprecedented time. “I am only sharing this in case you all want to help as well,” Camila captioned the clip.
She continued, “It took me over 2 weeks of research to find the right organization and the work they’re doing so I wanted to share with you in case it can inspire you as well to help, or inspire you to pick a lane to help others whatever that lane is. Even if your lane is helping your neighbor, calling people, emotional support, donations, volunteer… pick a lane and do it well!”
