Megan Fox says loving Machine Gun Kelly is 'like being in love with a tsunami'
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s red hot romance is a “once in a lifetime thing,” according to the actress. Fox participated in Nylon magazine’s cover story about the rapper-turned-rocker and said they have a connection of “mythic proportions.”
In the interview, Kelly, real name Colson Baker, discussed how his new music, new life and new girlfriend are all intertwined. The “Bloody Valentine” singer previously credited Fox with making him a better person, which he expanded on to Nylon.
“Love is not what’s being encouraged now. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite: Everything now is isolation, dehumanization, separation,” Kelly stated. “And f***, dude, you have in your head that you’re this rock star, with multiple women and all that… So finding someone that can take you out of the fast lane and make sure that you’re safe, because at any minute you can crash — I love that it can evolve into that.”
According to Fox, that’s because “there’s never an attempt to control him on my end.”
“It’s more that he looks to me to avoid his own self destructive tendencies,” the Transformers star shared. “And that’s where I’m useful because on his own and left to his own devices I don’t know how much interest he has in caring for himself.”
Kelly has spoken out about those self destructive tendencies before, revealing he was doing cocaine and drinking before dating Fox. The pair met earlier this year filming the upcoming thriller Midnight in the Switchgrass, shortly after the actress separated from husband Brian Austin Green.
“I looked into his eyes [and] I felt the most pristine, most gentle, most pure spirit,” Fox recalled. “My heart shattered immediately and I just knew that I was f*****.”
Fox explained that she sees Kelly’s bad boy image as a “genuine extension of a very real rage and a very deep pain” stemming from childhood trauma, as well as “a way of hiding himself from himself and from the rest of the world.” She doesn’t think many people can break down that wall — but she did.
“Loving him is like being in love with a tsunami or a forest fire,” she laughed. “The intensity of merging with him is just overwhelming, and the threat it poses is so powerful but so beautiful that you have no choice to surrender with reverence and with gratitude.”
Fox’s declaration might not help squash drama with Green. The former couple, who share three sons, are “struggling to get along,” a source tells People, as he’s reportedly having a hard time accepting her new relationship.
“It’s a tough situation. As a dad, Brian is great. He is wonderful with the boys,” the source claimed. “The issue is that he is bitter that Megan moved on so quickly with Machine Gun Kelly. It's been very hard for him. His behavior can be pretty immature when it comes to Megan though. He knows how to get Megan upset. In the past, he was advised to chill out and just focus on doing the right thing for the boys.”
