Meghan Markle’s Brand's Biggest Competitor May Out-’Savvy’ Her for One Reason, PR Expert Claims
Despite Meghan Markle premiering her new brand American Riviera Orchard in March 2024, there have been no other updates for the public. Meghan has slightly promoted some products online, via her friends who have gotten her exclusive strawberry jam, dog treats, and raspberry jam. And now, it’s going to be wine? Despite all of these potential avenues, she has a major competitor: the Royal Collection Trust.
Carla Horvath, a public relations expert, exclusively told SheKnows that American Riviera Orchard’s biggest competitor right now with her jams is The Royal Collection Trust, which promoted their strawberry preserves soon after Meghan’s came to light. But the biggest difference between them is the Trust’s large-scale production, and how customers are going to lean more towards that.

Horvath said, “While she thinks the ‘small batch’ jams will create exclusivity, consumers are savvy enough to know that a large-scale production of luxury jams is possible, like her competitor The Collection, which is administered by The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity which is not owned personally by His Majesty The King, but held in trust by him as Sovereign for his successors and the nation.”
So, with everything Meghan has teased, the royal collection also has their own. For instance, the jams? They have multiple of those on their site. Wine? They have glasses, and an array of alcoholic beverages and tools. (But not rose, so that could definitely help her). But one thing the royal page doesn’t have are dog treats, just accessories for their dogs.
However, Horvath added that these differences and similarities can be detrimental to Meghan’s brand, saying, “This is just another example of her failure to launch and lack of creativity, in which there will be diminishing interest as time goes on.”
