Meghan McCain praises Elizabeth Warren's debate performance: 'She slayed it'
Daytime audiences can always expect the unexpected when watching The View, and Thursday’s episode was no exception when conservative co-host Meghan McCain praised Democrat presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
McCain, who has spoken out about sexism in the media in the past, slammed the press for not giving Warren credit for her performance at the Democratic debate.
“I just think it’s a weird referendum on the media that she slayed it last night. I said it was like the red wedding in Game of Thrones and she did incredible,” said McCain.
“It’s weird that we can’t give a woman credit for doing a really great job last night,” she added.
McCain also objected to people who assume former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be the person to face off against President Donald Trump in November.
“We’re also talking about how Bloomberg’s just going to be the person automatically against Trump because he has a billion dollars — it’s what everyone is so angry about right now, myself included,” said McCain.
“I’m a woman that may want to run for office some day and she did great last night and she deserves credit for it! Bloomberg tanked!” she added.
Viewers took to Twitter to weigh in, and many said they agreed with the usually conservative co-host.
Today @MeghanMcCain and I agree. @ewarren is amazing. #DemocraticDebate #WarrenForTheWin

@sunny and @MeghanMcCain both vehemently stated the truth. You cannot deny the moral core of the issues Elizabeth Warren debated last night and she did great. #TheView

But others disagreed and weren’t thrilled with McCain’s reveal that she may one day run for office:
@MeghanMcCain
1) God forbid u run for anything,
2) Let’s be clear, if you do run, you will be buying the office with your father’s legacy and name. You are no different so just stop with ur blind, white privilege.#hottopics #theview— Baby Yoda🇺🇸 (@Barronsfather) February 20, 2020
The media hasn’t given Bloomberg a pass @MeghanMcCain . Just the opposite. Focus on the real sexual abuser and racist n the WH. Played right into Trump’s hands🇺🇸
