Melania Trump Teases Upcoming Memoir in New Video: “I Feel a Responsibility to Clarify the Facts”

Melania Trump will be leaning hard into “truth” in her forthcoming memoir Melania.

“Writing this memoir has been a deeply personal and reflective journey for me. As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts,” the former first lady says in a new black-and-white video shared today on social media that finds the 54-year-old Trump speaking directly to the camera with half of her body cast in a shadow. “I believe it is important to share my perspective — the truth.”

The comments are Trump’s first since the Skyhorse Publishing release was revealed in July. The 48-second video also features a montage of clips from her official duties as first lady, most of them showing her engaged in conversation, hugs or pleasantries with children while traveling the globe.

Per the publisher, Melania will include reflections on her childhood growing up in Slovenia, a “chance encounter” with Donald Trump that “forever changed the course of her life” and “behind-the-scenes” stories of her time in the White House during her husband’s controversial presidency. “Melania offers an unprecedented look into her time as a First Lady who was born outside the United States — a role she embraced with honor and dedication. It brings readers into her world and presents an in-depth account of a woman who has led a remarkable life on her own terms. Melania Trump’s story is one of resilience and independence, showcasing her strength and unwavering commitment to her true self.”

The book is set for release Oct. 8, timed to obviously come out in the final weeks of the current campaign cycle as President Trump is seeking re-election in a face-off with Democratic nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris. He offered a blurb for her book by writing, “Melania is my rock and foundation, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her by my side.”

Other voices chimed in for the back of the book, though none offered much in the way of reactions to the text itself, only reflections on her looks or intelligence. Those included Kellyanne Conway (“[Melania] is extraordinary, elegant, beautiful, brilliant …”), Nikki Haley (“First Lady Melania Trump is an intelligent, beautiful, patriotic treasure for our country”), Brigitte Macron (“Charming, intelligent and very open”), and Dana Perino (“She lights up the room, and I think she can light up the country”).

The book is now available for preorder with a collector’s edition going for $150, a signed copy at $75 and a regular edition for $40.
