Melissa Etheridge Says Her Kids Joke That They Wish Brad Pitt Had Been Her Sperm Donor
Melissa Etheridge has been honest about the fact that she “considered” close friend Brad Pitt as a sperm donor for her two eldest kids — and her offspring have no problem teasing her about it.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday, Etheridge, 57, revealed that her daughter Bailey Jean, 22, and son Beckett, 20 — whom she shares with ex Julie Cypher — often joke with her about the possibility of having Pitt as a dad.
“My children are like, ‘I could have had Brad Pitt as a father!’ ” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘No….’ “
Fellow musician David Crosby, 77, famously ended up being Etheridge and Cypher’s pick as sperm donor. So why didn’t Pitt, 55, get the gig?
“He’s a very good friend of mine,” Etheridge said on WWHL. “And then it just seemed like, really complicated. Like, super complicated.”
Etheridge first opened up about Pitt’s possible donation back in March 2016, telling Australia’s Studio 10 that part of the reason she ruled him out at the time was because he wanted to be a father himself.
“I looked and I saw how badly he wanted children and I thought, ‘I don’t want to share this with someone who really, badly wants children because my children don’t need another parent – they have two,’ ” said Etheridge, who actually performed at Pitt’s wedding to Jennifer Aniston in 2000.
Of course, Pitt would go on to have kids of his own.
He and ex Angelina Jolie, 43, share kids Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.
And Etheridge would go on to have more kids too. She and ex Tammy Lynn Michaels share twins: daughter Jonnie Rose and son Miller Steven, both 12.
