Metallica Performs ‘Enter Sandman’ With Jimmy Fallon and the Roots
On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon and the Roots grabbed some classroom instruments and the guys from legendary rock group Metallica. Together, they performed one of the band’s biggest hits, “Enter Sandman.”
With Fallon by his side, Metallica frontman James Hetfield led Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and the rest of the group through two verses of their hit song from 1991.
“Say your prayers, little one. Don’t forget, my son, to include everyone,” Hetfield sang. “Tuck you in warm within keep you free from sin till the sandman he comes.”
Though it was a little strange to hear such a heavy song played with classroom instruments, it was still entertaining.
“Hush little baby don’t say a word, and never mind that noise you heard,” Hetfield continued. “It’s just the beasts under your bed, in your closet, in your head. Exit, light. Enter, night. Take my hand. We’re off to never-never land.”
Metallica’s latest album, “Hardwired…to Self-Destruct,” comes out on Nov. 18.
