Michael Madsen files for divorce from wife of 28 years, alleges she drove their son to suicide
It’s over for Michael Madsen and DeAnna Madsen.
The 66-year-old has filed for divorce from his estranged wife, DeAnna Madsen, after 28 years of marriage.
Madsen cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, per court documents obtained by The Post, and claimed that they officially separated shortly after their 26-year-old son Hudson died by suicide on Jan. 25, 2022.
The documents dated Tuesday, Sept. 17, were filed in a Los Angeles court and noted that the exes tied the knot on April 15, 1996.
The “Kill Bill” star signed a statement and attached it to the petition as part of the legal filing that accused DeAnna of driving their son to die by suicide “by her neglect, drinking and alcoholism.”
Additionally, he insisted the “irreconcilable differences” that he listed did “not adequately describe the divorce filing.”
The Post has reached out to a rep for Madsen for comment.
Madsen’s lawyer Perry Wander told The Post, “Michael is looking forward to spending quality time with his children and pursuing acting and writing poetry.”
Madsen has requested a domestic violence restraining order, per the documents, and also denied the domestic violence charges brought against him by DeAnna last month.
“Respondent also significantly contributed to my personal issues as well. I am a victim in an abusive, co-dependent, and toxic relationship that culminated in the Respondent breaking into my residence and having me wrongfully arrested for DV,” his statement alleged.
Last month, Madsen was taken into custody on Aug. 17, after being arrested under California Penal Code section 243(e)(1), which is battery of a spouse, per online records obtained by People.
The incident occurred at his Malibu home, with the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriffs department deputies responding to a call shortly after midnight on the west end of the affluent community regarding a “family disturbance.”
“The informant stated that a female adult alleged her husband pushed her and locked her out of their residence,” Lieutenant Adam Zeko told Fox News Digital.
“Based on the initial investigation, deputies determined Michael Madsen was involved in a domestic incident involving his wife. Mr. Madsen was arrested for misdemeanor Spousal Battery.”
Zeko also added that the misdemeanor can carry a punishment of up to one year in jail.
“The informant stated that a female adult alleged her husband pushed her and locked her out of their residence,” he continued. “The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for filing.”
At the time of his arrest, his bail was set at $20,000. On Aug. 19, a rep told the outlet that the actor had returned home.
His rep also told TMZ and Variety in a statement, “It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.”
In February 2022, Madsen was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor trespassing, which came only a month after Hudson’s death.
The Malibu resident, best known for films like “Kill Bill” and “Thelma & Louise,” married DeAnna in 1996. The pair also share sons Luke and Calvin. He was previously married twice.
