Mickey Guyton Shimmers in Sheer Shoes on the BET Awards 2024 Red Carpet
More from Footwear News
Mickey Guyton hopped on the long-running sheer trend on the 2024 BET Awards red carpet on Sunday.
The country music singer appeared on the red carpet in a red dress. The dress featured gold embellishment detailing that was crystalized, while the fabric twisted, and wrapped around her body, featuring cutouts.
She matched the gold of those details with gold bracelets as well as gold hoop earrings.
For shoes, Guyton decided to slip on a pair of heels. While the shoes appear to be simple, open-toe strappy sandals, they are not. Featuring a pointed toe, the shoes actually cover the toes in a completely see-through PVC casing. That is rimmed with a strap of crystals that then climbs up the foot, around the back of the foot and wraps twice around the ankle.
The design is from Andrea Wazen. The company calls it their Dassy style. Though it was originally available for $693, the Dassy can be found in various colors for $346 or even less than $150. There are also multiple variations of the Dassy: one only has the PVC in a strip across the foot; a sandal style includes no PVC; and still another version is a block heel instead of a stiletto.
Sheer as a style has been trending in shoes and apparel for the last few years. The shoe trend really hit its stride in 2023. Designers have been using clear fabrications like PVC in designs as well as mesh. Stuart Weitzman, Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik and Aquazzura are amongst the brands to release options.
The BET Awards celebrate achievements in entertainment, honoring excellence in music, sports, television and movies. Taraji P. Henson will host the 2024 event, which will feature performances by Ice Spice, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Victoria Monét and more.
