Mika Brzezinski slams Ivanka Trump for 'a lack of intellectual ability'
“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski slammed Ivanka Trump on Wednesday’s show. Ivanka tweeted about the recent mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, and asked that people not “overlook that Chicago experienced its deadliest weekend of the year.” Ivanka also tweeted statistics about the violence in Chicago she referenced, which some felt were misleading:
As we grieve over the evil mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, let us not overlook that Chicago experienced its deadliest weekend of the year.

With 7 dead and 52 wounded near a playground in the Windy City- and little national outrage or media coverage- we mustn’t become numb to the violence faced by inner city communities every day.

Chicago mayor, Lori Lightfoot, objected to the wording of the tweet, which she felt implied the “7 dead and 52 wounded” were all part of one incident rather than a number of occurrences.
In a press conference on Tuesday, per CNN, Lightfoot said: "It wasn't a playground, it was a park. It wasn't seven dead. It wasn't 52 wounded in one incident, which is what this suggests. And it's misleading. It's important when we're talking about people's lives to actually get the facts correct, which one can easily do if you actually cared about getting it right."
Brzezinski expressed her agreement with Lightfoot, saying that Trump had “a lack of intellectual ability to know information,” and further criticized her for misusing her platform, calling her “so abusive, so uncaring, and really in a way unfeeling about what is going on.”
Viewers on Twitter were split on Brzezinski’s comments, with some arguing that Ivanka got her facts right, and others tweeting that it’s become hard to take “Morning Joe” seriously:
Hey Mika why don’t YOU walk the streets of Chicago? You could care less about the violence in that city. Stop acting like you care. You denounce Ivanka Trump daily. I would guess you envy her position in our country. @morningmika #MorningJoe

Morning Joe is a soap opera for political junkies. Mika attacking Dana Loesch, Joe & Mika attacking Trump, Mika attacking Ivanka and Melania. Reminds me of the catfights on Dynasty and Dallas.

Others spoke out in agreement with Brzezinski, and felt Ivanka was using her tweets to distract people from hearing criticism of her father in the aftermath of the recent mass shootings:
@morningmika ivanka’s tweet is just an attempt at distraction. Don’t look over there, look over here. It’s sad that she thinks that would work. And good on Chicago’s mayor. Calling BS where it should be.

Read between the lines. Distract, distract, distract!Ivanka shamefully (& tone deaf) attempts to move conversation from increase in ‘white nationalist’ mass shootings fueled by Trumps ‘invasion’ of immigrants rants. Now singles out Chicago shootings/inner city w/a black mayor?🤔 https://t.co/uACWH7uzf3
