Minecraft Movie Teaser – Fans React to First Look at New Video Game Adaptation
Jason Momoa said filming the Minecraft movies was "one of the greatest times of [his] life" and now we have our first preview of what that looks like in the form of a minute-long teaser that shows us Momoa in action with Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, with Jack Black as Steve.
The teaser doesn't give anything away, but it does provide us with a sneak peek of those images that leaked from set of the trees in motion, as well as a strange pink sheep and some pigs on parachutes.
Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, and Jennifer Coolidge are also set to star in the film, but they were absent in this preview.
Fans had some choice things to say about the teaser, and none of them were particularly kind.
Vince Vaughn recently talked about Hollywood's problem in an interview, talking about how studios' go-to point nowadays is that "You have to have an IP."
Warner Bros is having a field day with IP films since Greta Gerwig made history at the box office with Barbie last summer. Since then the studio's slate has consisted of sequels and spin-offs, including, Meg 2: The Trench, Blue Beetle, The Nun II, Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Color Purple, Dune: Part Two, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and Twisters.
However, the studio has also been responsible for some of the most exciting original films from the last 12 months, including Bottoms, Saltburn, and Challengers.
Minecraft will be released in theaters, as well as IMAX on April 4, 2025.
