'Minions' writer trolls Eric Trump with amusing tweet about his favorite toy
No matter what he tells his die-hard base, Donald J. Trump is not the most popular president in American history. Nor are his progeny very popular, with their dogged loyalty to their father that has helped make them targets of criticism as well — including, now, from a well-known Hollywood screenwriter, whose latest tweet takes one of the Trump boys to task for his less-than-adult tastes in playthings.
Minions screenwriter Brian Lynch — whose résumé also includes credits for Puss in Boots and The Secret Life of Pets — dragged Eric Trump on Twitter for a photo in which the president’s son is seen holding one of those famous gibberish-spouting yellow creatures alongside his infant son, Luke. As he makes clear, Lynch is nothing if not grateful to see his creation being enthusiastically enjoyed, even if he does hope that at some point Trump will allow his baby to also get some time with the stuffed little guy.
A few people asked me what I thought of this. All I can say is that I hope this toy brings him lots of joy and hours of fun, and I hope he lets his son play with it sometimes. pic.twitter.com/mbeZoqgFqG

This isn’t the first time Lynch has let his feelings about the Trump family be known on social media, as evidenced by a handful of recent posts that take the commander in chief to task:
My favorite part of any mid-90s comedy was when the old square white guy tried to rap pic.twitter.com/9iSqMLLp11

It’s weird to see a grown man act like this. https://t.co/92ZPGR0TLv

The fact this came from the White House is disgusting. https://t.co/8pBZsJ3B4i

Trump would last ten seconds in Willy Wonka's factory

Say what you want about Trump but he is a great speaker. Proudly saying words as if he's never heard them before, before nodding and flashing the grin of a jack o lantern that does not understand love.

At Trump rallies they play music by bands who have threatened to sue Trump if he uses their songs, cool cool https://t.co/eF0ovjebln

We think this means hopes for future White House screenings of Minions are dashed.
