‘Miracle Workers’ Trailer: The Almighty Steve Buscemi & His Angel Daniel Radcliffe Vs. Earth In TBS Comedy

Steve Buscemi is God. No, that’s not some Claptonesque graffiti, is the premise of Miracle Workers, the upcoming comedy from EP Lorne Michaels that also stars Daniel Radcliffe as an angel in the Department of Answered Prayers. Check out the first full-length trailer for the workplace comedy — said “workplace” being heaven — above. (Not below…)

Craig (Radcliffe) is a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers. His boss, God, pretty much has checked out and is ready to move on to his next project, with the knowledge that “Earth is in big trouble — it’s a mess.” The Almighty’s plan is simply to blow up the planet and move on. To stave of global annihilation, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans fall in love. Karan Soni plays Sanjay, God’s right-hand man.

The trailer points up the very human foibles of the duo tasked with answering some 2 billion prayers. Craig is excited to have newbie Eliza onboard “Now that I’ve got you, a teammate, there’s no telling what we can do,” he tells her. Because now they can get to a whopping six of them a day. Maybe.

Created by Simon Rich, who also was behind FXX’s Man Seeking Woman, the limited series premieres February 12 on TBS. It hails from Michaels’ Broadway Video in association with Turner’s Studio T. The Saturday Night Live honcho exec produces along with Andrew Singer, Rich, Radcliffe and Buscemi.
