Momo Cast: Alexa Goodall, Martin Freeman, & More Join English Remake of German Fantasy Novel

According to Deadline, Alexa Goodall (A Gentleman in Moscow), Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), Claes Bang (Bad Sisters), Laura Haddock (Transformers: The Last Knight), Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), Araloyin Oshunremi (Top Boy, Heartstopper), Jennifer Amaka Peterson (The Sandhamn Murders), and David Shütter (Charlie’s Angels) have been cast in the upcoming live-action English-language adaptation of Momo, based on Michael Ende’s beloved German fantasy novel.

Goodall will be leading the ensemble cast as the titular orphan girl who goes up against an evil corporation stealing people’s time. This marks Goodall’s first major movie project as the lead, after making brief appearances in shows like The Devil’s Hour, Lockwood & Co, and The Long Shadow.

What is Momo about?

“The film follows Momo, a young orphan girl who lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater and becomes friends with everybody in the neighborhood. But, when a powerful international corporation starts stealing everybody’s time, nobody has any time left for her, let alone their friends or families. Momo, together with Master Hora, the custodian of time, are the only ones who can go up against the time thieves before all is lost forever,” reads the synopsis.

Momo is written and directed by Christian Ditter. It is produced by Christian Becker and Amara Palacios, with Martin Moszkowicz, Oliver Berben, Roman Hock, and Wolf-Dieter von Gronau executive producing. It is a production by Rat Pack Filmproduktion, Constantin Film Production and Westside Filmproduction in association with Michael Ende Productions and Pakt Media.

Production is currently underway in Croatia and Slovenia.
