Movie star stops at Cleveland deli; takes pics with workers, sandwich

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Slyman’s Restaurant and Deli on St. Clair Avenue has been an icon for so long in Cleveland that when it first opened 60 years ago, a loaf of bread cost around 30 cents, a carton of milk was 90 cents, and Lyndon B. Johnson was president.

Also in 1964, a movie ticket was $1.25. And speaking of movies, Hollywood actor Andy Garcia (“Ocean’s Eleven,” “Godfather Part III”) stopped in the famous joint Thursday for a stack of corned beef and took pictures with the Slyman’s crew.

Slyman’s, which has been voted best corned beef numerous time by an array of polls, isn’t just a famous local draw, but it’s garnered visits by President Biden and President Bush.
