MTV is heading back to the beach with a major '90s throwback. This June will see the return of MTV Beach House with branded help from Moutain Dew Spiked Lemonade.
The hourlong music video block that first aired in 1993 will now be hosted by Nessa (Girl Code), Cody Christian (Teen Wolf), and Chico Bean (Wild 'n Out) from a '90s-themed venue on the Jersey Shore. The goal is to introduce the concept to "a new generation of fans" fueled by social media.
The summer party kicks off June 8 with an MTV Beach House Festival, featuring headliners MisterWives, KYLE, and more to be announced. MTV Beach House's return will also include on-air interstitials and behind-the-scenes content across MTV, Comedy Central, and Spike's social and digital channels throughout June.
Comedian Bill Bellamy originally hosted Beach House, followed by Carson Daly. Here's a quick skip down memory lane with a clip of Radiohead performing "Creep" in 1993.
"Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook Live didn't even exist when we last opened the MTV Beach House as the ultimate summer hangout for our audience 14 years ago," Matthew Newcomb, vice president of integrated marketing at MTV, said in a statement. "We're thrilled to partner with Mtn Dew Spiked Lemonade to bring back the Beach House in a totally updated way that speaks to a new generation of digitally native fans."
This news comes after MTV announced a revival of Fear Factor with Ludacris as the new host, as well as the return of My Super Sweet 16.
