Last year, five-time Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winner Karol G secured her first Moon Person for “Best Collaboration” alongside Shakira and made her VMAs debut with a sultry rendition of “Oki Doki” / “Tá Ok.” Her Ma?ana Será Bonito made her the first woman, and only the second artist ever, to top the Billboard 200 with an all-Spanish-language album. This year, she’s poised to take home her second Moon Person and her first win in the “Best Latin” category.

His first VMAs performance in over 25 years, LL Cool J will return to the storied MTV stage with a performance from his upcoming album The Force. The first Hip-Hop artist to amass 10 consecutive platinum-plus selling albums, LL performed and took home his first Moon Person in 1991 for “Best Rap.”

Mendes will make his first televised performance from his upcoming fifth studio album, self-titled Shawn at the 2024 VMAs. He previously had three back-to-back years of performances at the VMAs – “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” (2017), “In My Blood” (2018) and “If I Can’t Have You” and “Se?orita” (2019) – and most recently, his 2021 “Summer of Love” collaboration with Tainy.

This will be Megan’s first-ever awards-hosting gig. She’s up for five nominations at this year’s VMAs, including Best Collaboration with tourmate GloRilla and Best Hip Hop, the same category she last won in 2020 for her chart-topper “Savage.”

Earlier this year, Megan released her album MEGAN, that includes collaborations with Victoria Monet, GloRilla, UGK, Big K.R.I.T., Kyle Richh and Yuki Chiba. Most recently, she released the new music video for her single MAMUSHI”, a song that emerged as a global hit from her album.

The four join previously announced performers Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Camila Cabello and Rauw Alejandro.

PREVIOUS, August 12: MTV has pushed the date of the VMAs to Wednesday, September 11, from originally scheduled September 10, due to the U.S. presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. MTV is encouraging fans to tune in to the debate ahead of the awards show, which will air live from UBS Arena on MTV September 11 at 8PM ET/PT across 150+ countries globally.

The network noted that in observance of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, MTV will again support the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, which serves the families of 9/11.

MTV also announced the first round performers for the awards show, including four-time VMA winner and Grammy nominee Camila Cabello, GloRilla, and first-time nominees Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Latin Grammy winner Rauw Alejandro.
