Natalie Dormer Teases What Happened to Her Captain America: The First Avenger Character
Natalie Dormer portrayed a relatively minor character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But she has left an undeniable impression on the fans, who remember Dormer’s Private Lorraine from Captain America: The First Avenger even after all these years. And now, the actress is speaking about what she thinks happened to her character. Here’s what Natalie Dormer shared about playing Private Lorraine in the MCU.
Natalie Dormer reveals thoughts on being Captain America’s first kiss
Fans remember Private Lorraine for her kiss with Steve Rogers / Captain America (Chris Evans) and apparent efforts to charm the superhero. Though Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) firmly put a stop to Lorraine’s romantic advances, the fact remains that this was Steve’s first kiss.
While promoting her latest movie The Wasp, which debuts in the US on Friday, August 30, Dormer spoke about what she thought about the kiss. She also speculated on what might have happened to her character.
“I’m sure she found an even keel and became a very responsible, hardworking member of society,” Dormer told ComicBook. “That character, yeah, that was just, you know, that was just fun. That’s one of those gigs when you just go, ‘You want me to do what? Oh, yeah. Sure. Okay. I just come in for a day’s work and yeah, all right.'”
Captain America: The First Avenger premiered 13 years earlier, in 2011. A year later, Dormer made her first appearance as Margaery Tyrell in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which was one of the most popular shows at the time and likely contributed to the enduring popularity of Private Lorraine. Dormer went on to appear in 26 episodes in total, spanning five seasons (2-6) of the fantasy action drama series.
Besides Game of Thrones, Dormer’s acting credits include Anne Boleyn in BBC Two and Showtime’s The Tudors, Jamie Moriarty / Irene Adler in CBS’ Elementary, and Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. In the psychological thriller The Wasp, Dormer stars as Carla, who encounters Naomie Harris’ Heather for the first time in years. After the latter suggests something, it impacts both of their lives.
