Nate Thompson’s 'People of the Dead' premieres Saturday
Local filmmaker Nate Thompson’s “People of the Dead” premieres Saturday at the River Raisin Centre for the Arts, 114 S. Monroe St. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $15 per person.
The two-hour event will feature a monkey, a magic act and horror films.
Thompson owns and operates Nate Thompson Video and Novaland Films. This is his third short horror film to premiere in downtown Monroe, just steps away from his Michigan Museum of Horror on South Monroe Street, a year-round, two-story museum of all things scary.
Thompson, the movie’s director, stars in the film along with actors, Raychel Eastes, Ethyn Sloane and Evelyn Schmidt. Eastes and Miranda Messenger provided special effects.

“This film is important to me because not only did we keep production right here in Monroe, Michigan but this is also the first time a crew was able to film inside the Michigan Museum of Horror,” Thompson said. “We even used real skulls, which you can see in the film!”

The independent filmmaker likes providing horror fans, of all ages, with uncertainty, fear and suspense. Along with making movies and running the museum, Thompson has recently launched a clothing and candle line. In November, he’ll host a tattoo convention in Monroe.
Thompson’s list of horror movie credits include “The Dead Record” (2022), “The Cult Leader” (2021), “Cult Affairs” (2021) and “What Lives in the Dark” (2020).
