‘The Carmichael Show’: NBC Boss Hopeful Of Season 3 Return
During an upfronts conference call, NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt addressed the drama surrounding the third-season renewal of The Carmichael Show.
“I was hopeful we would have it by now,” Greenblatt said, noting that the network has been “going back and forth” with leading studio 20th Century Fox TV over the number of episodes for Season 3, with NBC asking for a smaller order. Word is that NBC has requested as few as 10 episodes, something the studio would not accept.
Greenblatt would not comment on the order sizes discussed but admitted that the network’s offer is less than the number of episodes the studio would like to produce and said that “going into the second season, there are contract obligations mostly based on antiquated ways of doing business.” He also stressed that NBC’s “robust” lineup of new comedies complicates the renewal decision.
“Hopefully we will meet the next couple of days, and hopefully it will resolve itself soon,” Greenblatt said of The Carmichael Show‘s renewal situation.
