Ne-Yo Clamors For Polygamy Freedom: 'Let People Do Whatever'
Ne-Yo wants the legal freedom to marry multiple women.
According to the singer-songwriter, consenting adults need to have the right to pursue their desired romantic arrangements without governmental intrusion. He made his point clear while proudly walking hand-in-hand with his two lovers.
Ne-Yo Believes The Government Should Not Interfere In People's Love Lives
Ne-Yo was the reflection of unconcern as he touched on the subject of polygamous marriages during a stroll through The Grove in Los Angeles on Friday. The "So Sick" hitmaker said:
"I feel like in the realm of love and romance, you should let people do whatever the hell they want to do. Can't see how it's hurting anybody."
He clarified that while he supports the idea of polygamy and believes it should be legal, he is not actively lobbying for a change in the law.
When asked if he would consider pursuing marriage with multiple women, he admitted uncertainty, informing TMZ:
"I don't know. I'm not going to let it ruin my day. At the end of the day, the people that I love know that I love them and they love me."
The 44-year-old also claimed that his music has not addressed loving two women yet because he is still new to the polygamous world. In his words:
"The songs come out depending on the situation and the circumstance. This is the first time I've been in a relationship like this. The songs will come. I don't force it when it comes to music."
Unfortunately for fans who want to follow in Ne-Yo's footsteps, the singer is not recommending it. As he emphasized, "It works for me, might not work for you. So, find out what works for you."

The record producer seemingly began dipping his toes into the polygamous pool with a series of alleged threesomes with ex-girlfriend Monyetta Shaw.
Per The Blast, the actress spilled the tea on the supposed bedroom occurrences during an appearance on the "Haus of Aaron" podcast last September.
Asserting that Ne-Yo did not want a monogamous relationship with her, Shaw expressed:
"Well, you know he just — he wasn't ready, okay. So yeah, we cheated together, if that makes sense. And then it just wasn't enough, and I was like, 'Well, no. I didn't sign up to do this every day.'"
When asked to clarify her statement about "cheating together," the "Soul Men" star raised three fingers, suggesting the possibility of a threesome. "We did things together, so it's not cheating if you're involved with it," she added.
Ne-Yo & Shaw Welcomed Two Kids During Their Longtime Relationship
Recall that Ne-Yo and Shaw initially met in 2009 at a Jamie Foxx concert, where they quickly hit it off and got engaged a year later.
Although they seemed to have found 'the one,' and welcomed two children, the pair abruptly ended their romance just two months before their planned wedding in 2013.
The aftermath of the relationship's collapse saw reports claiming that Ne-Yo shocked his ex by calling it quits over the phone.
Just a year after their breakup, the dancer began dating his ex-wife, Crystal Renay, leading to accusations that he broke off their engagement to pursue Renay.
Additionally, there were allegations that Ne-Yo pressured his ex-fiancée into undergoing tubal ligation before ending their relationship to start a family with someone else. Both Ne-Yo and Shaw have since denied these claims.
Ne-Yo Shelled Out The Big Bucks In His Divorce
Regarding Ne-Yo's broken marriage with Renay, The Blast reported that the former couple finalized their divorce in February 2023.
Going by court documents outlining the settlement, Ne-Yo was ordered to cover Crystal's $20k moving expenses and contribute $150k towards her purchase of a new car. Renay also got a substantial settlement of $1.6 million.
The single mother also got awards of $12k per month in child support for their three children — Shaffer Jr., Roman, and Isabella.
Additionally, the ex-lovebirds received joint custody of their kids, with Ne-Yo covering all school fees and paying Renay $5k per month in alimony for the next three years.
Ne-Yo & Renay Still Have Official Business Together
Meanwhile, Ne-Yo and Renay sparked reconciliation rumors when they attended the grand opening of their restaurant, Johnny's Chicken and Waffles' newest location in June 2023.
Despite fans' hopes for the duo, it was made clear that their joint appearance was strictly professional. As one source emphasized, the three-time Grammy Awards winner and his ex-wife "are not back together." They added:
"They were both at the restaurant opening because they are co-owners, and it's in their contracts."
The informant further disclosed that Ne-Yo and Renay were involved with other people and were focused on maintaining their co-parenting responsibilities and their business partnership.
