Newlyweds Guy Ritchie and Jacqui Ainsley Celebrate Nuptials at ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ Screening
At dusk in the cobbled courtyard of a former palace, Warner Bros.’ “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” took his bow to the world at London’s Thames-side Somerset House.
Friday’s was not the first bow, however, with helmer Guy Ritchie having held a private premiere at his nuptials a week before. Ritchie’s bride, Jacqui Ainsley, continued to channel the virginal theme, donning a flowing white Alice Temperley dress for the outing.
Warner Bros. UK topper Josh Berger was appointed Ritchie’s Friday night best man, charmingly demanding a round of applause for the newlyweds from the 2,000-strong guests at the Film4 screening.
As guests sat atop the stone cobbles for the al fresco screening, The Man himself, Henry Cavill, had wise words as to how to best enjoy the pic with the solid seating. “I’d say, shift from buttock to buttock.”
Cavill was quizzed as to whether his Cold War spy had relevance to modern audiences, responding with conviction, “The threat of nuclear apocalypse back then was as scary as any form of terrorism we have today. And they were going around… living life and having fun.”
As the sun disappeared in the west, helicopters whirled in the dark city sky above and the picture finally rolled to excited cheers. Also in attendance was writer/producer Lionel Wigram.
