Niels Arden Oplev To Direct NBC Pilot ‘Game Of Silence’
Niels Arden Oplev, the helmer behind the original Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, is set to direct and executive produce Game Of Silence, NBC’s drama pilot from CSI maven Carol Mendelsohn, Parenthood executive producer David Hudgins and Sony TV.
Based on the Turkish drama Suskunlar, Game Of Silence is about a rising attorney on the brink of success who could lose his perfectly crafted life when his long-lost childhood friends threaten to expose a dark secret from their violent past. Oplev will executive produce with Hudgins, Carol Mendelsohn Prods’ Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz as well as Timur Savci, of TIMS Prods, which was behind the original series, and Intrigue’s Tariq Jalil.
NBC has been high on the project, which had a pilot production commitment with a series penalty attached to it. A writers room was set up during the script stage, with the stories for the first 13 episodes already broken.
In the U.S., Oplev directed the pilots for CBS’ Unforgettable and USA’s Mr. Robot. He also helmed the highly-rated opening episode of the CBS summer drama series Under The Dome. Oplev, repped by ESA, the Shuman Co. and UK’s Curtis-Brown, is eyeing a feature directing gig at Sony’s sister studio, the film Flat Liners.
