'Nightmare on Elm Street' star Robert Englund to host metro Detroit screening of film

One, two, Freddy’s comin’ for you …

Legendary actor Robert Englund, best known for playing the iconic boogeyman Freddy Krueger in the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, will appear at this year’s Motor City Comic Con on Friday through Sunday, Nov. 8-10, at the Suburban Collection Showplace.

Also, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of “Nightmare,” Englund will attend a special screening of the original film at Emagine Novi on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. A Q&A panel discussion will precede the film; each attendee will also receive a commemorative badge and exclusive art print.

Tickets for “A Nightmare on Elm Street” with Robert Englund are $40 and go on sale Friday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. The cost does not include admission to Motor City Comic Con, however, Comic Con tickets are required to attend this Comic Con special event. Tickets for both can be purchased at MotorCityComicCon.com.

In “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” teenager Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) must uncover the dark truth concealed by her parents after she and her friends become targets of the spirit of a serial killer with a bladed glove – Freddy Krueger. He stalks the youths in their dreams … and if he kills them in a dream, they die in real life. The film also starred a young and still relatively unknown Johnny Depp as Nancy's boyfriend, Glen.

In addition to “Nightmare” and its many sequels, Englund has starred in nearly 100 feature films and had guest roles on many TV shows including “V,” “Bones,” “Criminal Minds,” “Hawaii 5-0,” “The Goldbergs” and “Stranger Things.” He’s recently added directing to his resume, as well as explorations in reality TV and internet programming and also does voice-over work in animation and video gaming.

On Halloween 2025, he will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
