Nikki Reed and Fran Kranz discover mutual love of Leonardo DiCaprio
Any story that centers around a murder of a cat and is a comedy is going to be a little offbeat.
But that kind of tone was exactly what attracted Nikki Reed (Twilight) and Fran Kranz (Cabin In The Woods) to Murder of a Cat, which is screening this weekend as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. When someone murders his beloved cat, Clinton (Kranz) demands justice. Taking it upon himself to solve the case, he teams up with an unlikely ally, Greta (Reed), and the two set out to find the culprit lurking in their small suburban town.
“I was really attracted to the script,” Reed explained about the 2010 Black List script. “My favorite part was coming in and reading for the part and seeing the kind of chemistry [Fran and I] have in our scenes. Greta was such a real departure from anything I’ve done before, and I definitely liked that aspect of it.”
“It’s such an original script,” Kranz continued. “And I’d never played anyone like Clinton. He’s a thirty-year-old man who lives with his mom and his best friend is a cat. Where as [in real life] mine is a dog [laughs].”
The goofy banter between the two co-stars continued when they took EW’s Pop Culture Personality Test together — and discovered a mutual early crush on Leonardo DiCaprio. Watch below:
