Norway replacing FM radio with digital

Norway radio is going full-digital. According to TIME, the country will do away with FM radio over the next two years in favor of an all-digital medium.

As The Verge notes, Norway will become the first country to ax FM radio completely. Norway plans to complete its transition to Digital Audio Broadcasting by the year 2017. A statement from the government claimed the move would provide more “diverse” and “pluralistic” radio content. Another added benefit according to Thorhild Widvey, Norway’s Minster of Culture, would be better sound quality and new “functionality.”
