It’s Official: Real-Life When Calls the Heart Couple Confirm Secret Marriage
There’s nothing like real Hallmark love, and beloved couple Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace may have cemented their relationship forever. Are Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace married from When Calls the Heart? McGarry finally cleared up all the rumors.
When Calls the Heart is Hallmark Channel’s drama series following Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher accustomed to her high-society life who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley (now named Hope Valley), a small coal-mining town in western Canada where life is simple but not without its challenges. The show, which premiered in July 2014, is based on Janette Oke’s novel of the same title from her Canadian West book series. Season 11 of When Calls the Heart is slated to premiere on April 7, 2024, at 9 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel.

Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace first connected on the set of When Calls the Heart when they were cast as Nathan and Fiona, respectively. In November 2020, viewers learned that they were dating in real life after Kayla shared the “photo evidence” of their relationship on Instagram. “The trick to my treat. It’s like being in a loving caring, magical relationship with the house that gives full-size chocolate bars,” McGarry wrote in a birthday post dedicated to Wallace in October 2022. “Happy Birthday Darling xx.”
While dating, McGarry and Wallace also showcased their love on-screen beyond WCTH. They co-starred in their first Hallmark Channel movie, Feeling Butterflies, in March 2023. They also starred opposite each other in Hallmark’s My Grown-Up Christmas List later that same year.
“It’s nice to work so closely with somebody that I know so well and see that the way Kevin works more in detail than just running lines together for auditions or doing the few scenes that we have on When Calls the Heart,” Wallace told TV Fanatic in July 2022 about working with McGarry on My Grown-Up Christmas List. “It was really fun to spend not just one whole movie working together, but two movies working together, where we get to dive into some different characters and play out these storylines.”
Finally, the pair revealed in December 2022 that they were engaged after two years of dating! Their Instagram announcement video showed the couple kissing with Wallace’s engagement ring on full display and Simon Martin Perkins’ song, “In My Life,” playing romantically in the background. Fellow Hallmark stars flooded the comments to express their congratulations. “Congratulations!!!! So thrilled for you guys,” Lacey Chabert wrote. “Congrats you two!!!” Stephanie Bennett added with two heart emojis.

Are they married? Yes! McGarry and Wallace got married in a secret ceremony, so they never made the news public — until now. During a September 14 cast panel appearance at the annual Hearties Family Reunion fan event, McGarry confirmed that he and Wallace had tied the knot.
In an Instagram video from the event, the panel’s host remarked, “You’ve got a ring on your finger. I hope it’s not a prop.”
McGarry revealed that it’s not a prop and held up his hand to show off the ring. The audience excitedly cheered for the couple.
In February, fans were convinced McGarry and Wallace tied the knot after the actress seemed to hint about it on her Instagram.
The picture, posted on Valentine’s Day, showed the couple holding each other and smiling. However, users quickly pointed out that it looked like there are two rings on Kayla’s finger (and she was wearing wedding white). The actress captioned the photo simply with a heart.
“Am I the only one that noticed there are TWO rings on that ring finger?” one user commented. “Zoomed in on photo and your ring finger. You got two rings on it looks like. Is this maybe photo evidence of more than just being engaged?” another added.
“Did you get married? You are wearing 2 rings. Congratulations!!!! ??” penned a fan under the photo. “Is that a second band I see in your hand ??????” another wrote.
