Oklahoma country music star Zach Bryan is officially a Grammy Award winner
Rising Oklahoma country music star Zach Bryan is officially a Grammy Award winner.
The prolific singer, songwriter, and producer, who hails from Oologah, and duet partner Kacey Musgraves won the golden gramophone for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their smash single "I Remember Everything" Sunday, Feb. 4 during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony.
Neither artist was present when their win was announced during the pretelecast event, which was live-streamed Sunday afternoon at https://live.grammy.com. The Grammy Premiere Ceremony overlaps in part with the red carpet, where Bryan was photographed with his girlfriend, Brianna Lapaglia.
Musgraves presented the award for Best Country Album during the Grammys telecast.
Bryan and Musgraves emerged victorious in a Best Country Duo/Group Performance category that was particularly competitive. The other nominees were Dierks Bentley featuring Billy Strings for "High Note," Brothers Osborne for "Nobody's Nobody," Jelly Roll With Lainey Wilson for "Save Me," Carly Pearce featuring Chris Stapleton for "We Don't Fight Anymore" and Oklahoma native Vince Gill and Paul Franklin for "Kissing Your Picture (Is So Cold)."
For Gill, it was his 48th career Grammy nomination and only nod for this year. Starting in 1990, when he won for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his hit ballad "When I Call Your Name," Gill has earned 22 golden gramophone trophies, making him the male country artist with the most Grammy victories.
After garnering his first Grammy nod last year, Bryan earned three Grammy nominations this year.
He and Musgraves, already a six-time winner heading into this year's Grammys, also were nominated for Best Country Song for "I Remember Everything." But that award went to Stapleton and co-writer Dan Wilson for "White Horse."
Bryan also was nominated for Best Country Album for his acclaimed chart-topping collection "Zach Bryan.”
Announced during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards telecast, the Best Country Album honor went to fellow first-time winner Lainey Wilson for her "Bell Bottom Country."
