The one thing Nicole Kidman banned from her home
She may be an Academy Award-winning actress, but when it comes to parenting, Nicole Kidman is like any other mom.
Kidman, whose youngest kids are 10 and 7, revealed that she makes a conscious effort to ensure her children aren’t obsessed with the internet and television. In doing so, the 51-year-old has strictly banned handheld electronic devices from their home.
“We have a no-devices house. Their friends can’t bring devices over. The general rule is: play, hardcore and outside,” she said in an interview with the Guardian.
“We have periods at home where we don’t turn on the TV and try to have a detox from it all,” she said.
It’s a practice she says she would “recommend to anyone,” adding that she and her husband, Keith Urban, provide plenty of backyard “land and animals” to keep the kids entertained.
The actress, who grew up in a Catholic family, also revealed that attending church remains a big part of her life. “We go to Catholic church, or sometimes we will go to a gospel church for the music. That singing and joy is so wonderful,” she told the Guardian.
Kidman has remained a churchgoer and continues to take her kids despite the fact that her father declared he was an atheist when she was a teenager.
“It was difficult for a child,” she said. “I still go church. I love the ritual. But that’s me and my choice.”
Kidman and Urban live in Nashville, which she describes as having a similar “pace of life” and landscape to her native Australia.
