Only Murders in the Building Nabs Early Season 5 Renewal at Hulu
We hope every tenant at the Arconia has a deadbolt by now, because chances are another one of them is about to be murdered.
Hulu announced Wednesday that Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for Season 5 — which, like Seasons 1-4, will consist of 10 episodes. The pickup comes one week after the launch of Season 4, which runs through Oct. 29; TVLine readers gave the premiere (featuring very special guest star Scott Bakula) an average grade of “A.”

“In this day and age, to have five seasons of anything is extraordinary, and it’s all due to this incredible group,” series co-creator John Hoffman tells TVLine. “I feel so honored to work with everyone both on screen and off screen on this one. I love the challenge of stepping up each season and doing our best to take a podcast pivot into a whole new world. That’s the other thing: We’re all interested in the ways in which we pivot. Everybody has been of like mind on this one, and it’s a sweet feeling for all of us to have this moment with this show, and know the way that it has landed with the world, and that people have embraced it. It’s overwhelming.”
Coming off a Broadway-centric Season 3, this current chapter of Only Murders sees “Charles, Oliver and Mabel wrestle with the shocking events surrounding Charles’ stunt double and friend, Sazz Pataki (played by recurring guest star Jane Lynch),” according to the official logline. “Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio’s investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles, where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast” — a film that is set to star Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria. “As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.”
No word yet on the murder at the center of Season 5 — though the victim always tends to reveal themselves in the finale. New Season 4 episodes are released every Tuesday at midnight ET.
