‘Onyx Storm’ Is Already a Bestseller — and Its Deluxe Edition Is Now on Sale

Rebecca Yarros’ third entry in The Empyrean series, Onyx Storm, has been dominating best-seller charts — but it won’t be out until January 1, 2025. The Deluxe Limited Edition of Onyx Storm, which became available for preorder several months ago, has been flying off shelves since its announcement. Now, however, the special edition of the already-best-selling book is discounted by 40% on Target.

The Deluxe Limited Edition of Onyx Storm features a few exclusive design features that won’t be seen on the book’s mass-market release. It boasts sprayed edges with stenciled artwork of dragons (dragonkind for the fans) and is only available in limited quantities. The Empyrean kicked off with Fourth Wing in 2023 and was quickly followed by Iron Flame later the same year. A viral sensation on TikTok’s reader community BookTok, the series follows 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail’s journey to become a dragon rider at Basgiath War College.
Yarros’ smash hit has already been picked up for television adaptation, with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society production company creating the show. Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad, Anne with an E) will be showrunner.
