Orchard Music Festival coming to Reid's Orchard on Sept. 28
The organizers behind the community’s annual PorchFest music event, Andy and Tamarra Brasher, have partnered with Reid’s Orchard to bring the first Orchard Music Fest to the orchard in the fall.
The music festival is slated to be from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
“The guys at Reid’s contacted us to see if we would be interested in doing a show out at the orchard,” said organizer Tamarra Brasher. “And, of course, why wouldn’t we want to use the beautiful backdrop of the orchard during the fall to host a music event? There really was no question.”
Brasher said that this event will be different than anything that’s been previously offered.
“This isn’t like PorchFest. This isn’t a new Big O Music Fest,” she explained. “This is really more of a family-focused event to get people out to enjoy the orchard in the fall and music at the same time.”
Brasher said that the play area will be open to provide kids’ entertainment and six stages will be set up to showcase various musical actions.
“We hand-picked these artists based on who we thought would draw support and a crowd,” she said.
Brasher explained that her husband, performer and co-organizer of the event, Andy Brasher, knew Sonia Leigh from playing a tour with Kenny Chesney, so she was asked to join the line-up at the Orchard Music Fest.
Leigh is an American country music singer-songwriter who has been active on the music scene since the late 90s. In addition to her solo ventures, Leigh has also co-written tunes from the Zac Brown Band, such as “Goodbye in Her Eyes” and “Sweet Annie.”
“We’re trying to focus on introducing new artists and new sounds to the community, but also invite some local favorites we know that people enjoy seeing,” she said.
Additional artists scheduled to perform at the festival include Old Hickory, Jarret Forester, Cam Thompson & Mitchell Douglas, Honey Vines and Lucy Jagoe & Emmie Kate, among others.
Brasher said that organizers tried to make the event as close to free as possible in order to encourage more families to attend, so there will be a $20 per vehicle charge to attend the festival.
“The entry fee just helps us to be able to put on the best show that we can,” she said.
Families are also encouraged to wheel in the wagons with the kids and to bring folding chairs and blankets to set up and enjoy the entertainment.
In addition to live music, food trucks and vendors will be set up at the festival to provide the crowd with food and drinks. So far, eateries committed to attend include Kona Ice, Real Hacienda, Pizza Revolution, Ben’s Soft Pretzels and Hillview Farms, to name a few.
“We’re also still accepting vendor applications for food trucks and food stands,” Brasher said.
Interested businesses can contact her via email at [email protected].
“We want people to be able to get everything they want at the orchard, so they don’t feel like they have to leave for food and drinks,” she said.
In keeping with the convenience theme, the Orchard Music Fest is also going to have a beer garden for patrons who wish to enjoy alcoholic beverages while listening to the music.
“Unlike PorchFest, we’re able to have a specific, designated location for a beer garden because of the space allowed at Reid’s Orchard,” Brasher explained.
Sponsors for the festival include Michelob Ultra, Sun Windows, Valor Oil, Kentucky Farm Bureau, Tri-State Ford Dealers and Ohio Valley Insurance.
