‘The Order’ Trailer: Jude Law Is an FBI Agent Investigating White Supremacists in True Crime Saga
Jude Law has been on fire in 2024, with “Firebrand” debuting and an announced collaboration with “City on Fire,” “Queer,” and “Challangers” screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes. Now, Law is laying down the law — literally — as an FBI agent in Justin Kurzel’s “The Order.”
Based on a true story, “The Order” follows Law’s character Terry Husk as he investigates a string of violent robberies in the Pacific Northwest. It turns out all those crimes are part of a domestic terrorist plot to overthrow the federal government. Sound familiar?

Per the official synopsis, “As the militia builds a war chest of over $4 million, Husk pursues the malevolent racist Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult) to a final bloody standoff that will go down in U.S. history.” Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Alison Oliver, and Marc Maron co-star.
The film is written by “King Richard” scribe Zach Baylin, with Law and “Nitram” director Kurzel both producing alongside Bryan Haas and Stuart Ford. “The Order” is adapted from Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt’s non0fiction book “The Silent Brotherhood.”
“It felt like a piece of work that needed to be made now,” actor/producer Law said during the Venice Film Festival. “It’s always interesting finding a piece from the past that has some relevant relationship to the present day.”
The IndieWire review for “The Order,” however, questioned the efficacy of the feature. “‘The Order’ is one of those: yet another Movie We Need Now, but the director inadvertently makes the case that maybe we don’t,” film editor Ryan Lattanzio wrote. “As skillful a director as he is — and ‘The Order’ is not without some well-orchestrated action set pieces and at least two wounding shots that echo the most gutting kills in a Michael Mann joint — this bloody, soul-killed dirge of a movie does not suggest a vision interested in anything but the same already-trodden topic.”
The review continues, “Well-cast, though, is Jude Law as demon-addled Idaho FBI agent Terry Husk, tasked in 1983 with taking down an Aryan brotherhood led by Hoult’s Bob Mathews.”
The “Eden” actor Law is also set to work with another Justin: Law is developing a Mike Nichols-inspired film with “Challengers” and “Queer” screenwriter Kuritzkes.
“The Order” will hit theaters on Friday, December 6 from Vertical. Check out the trailer below.
