Oscar Nominees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Continue Their ‘Wicked’-Inspired Method Dressing In Black Heels in London
Oscar nominees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are still finding wardrobe inspiration in their beloved “Wicked” characters. On Jan. 22, the day before the Academy Award nominations were announced, the stars participated in a National Youth Theatre event in London wearing black and pink ensembles, respectively, accented by black heels.
Erivo, who brought Elphaba to life in Jon M. Chu’s screen adaptation and earned a Best Actress nomination for the role, leaned into the Wicked Witch of the West aesthetic with an elegant black outfit including a long, floor-sweeping skirt and a crew-neck sweater featuring glimmering silver embellishments. Erivo accessorized with an eye-catching silver earscape, rings, a dazzling bracelet and super-long bejeweled nails.

Grande, who received a nod for Best Supporting Actress, continued with Glinda’s pink aesthetic by way of a blush ensemble from Akris consisting of items described as a techno tulle tiered ruffle maxi skirt and a cotton knit cardigan; the set comes from the brand’s spring/summer 2025 collection. Among Grande’s accessories was a pair of pearl stud earrings.
When it came to footwear, both actresses appeared to be wearing black heels. Erivo’s pair bore the signature red bottom of French luxury retailer Christian Louboutin, a label she and Grande have both worn in the past. She opted for the Dolly Boot Alta boots, which featured a pointed toe, a platform and a sky-high stiletto heel. For Grande, black pumps deviate slightly from her typical “Wicked”-inspired footwear choices.
She has often paired her pink and other light-hued outfits with pink or white heels; on this occasion, she went with a strong color contrast. Appearing to be the Jimmy Choo Romy pump, the dark shoes were designed with a pointed toe, narrow heel and curved low-cut vamp.
The press tour for “Wicked” has already delivered audiences a slew of striking looks including lots of designer footwear. With awards season now upon us, we can likely expect more “Wicked”-inspired ensembles to come.
