Oscars: Anora Wins Big, Including Best Picture; Zoe Salda?a, Kieran Culkin Earn First Oscars
The 97th Oscars were handed out on Sunday night, in a ceremony held at Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, and Anora racked up five total wins, including for Best Picture, lead actress Mikey Madison and director Sean Baker.
Heading into this year’s Academy Awards, the musical crime drama Emilia Pérez led the pack with 13 total nominations — including for Best Picture and lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón (though she is the longest of long shots in the wake of racist, Islamophobic and homophobic tweets resurfacing). In the end, it only scored two wins, including for supporting actress Zoe Salda?a.
