Oscars: All 207 movies eligible for Best Picture nominations this year, from ‘Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life’ to ‘Your Monster’
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced on Monday the 207 feature films eligible for Best Picture consideration, two days before voting for the 2025 Oscar nominations begins.
There are 323 feature films eligible for the Academy Awards, but just 207 met the Best Picture competition eligibility requirements.

As stated by the Academy in a press release, “To be eligible for consideration in the general entry categories, under rules implemented for the 97th Academy Awards year, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in at least one of six U.S. metropolitan areas: Los Angeles County; the City of New York; the Bay Area; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; and Atlanta, Georgia, between Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2024, and complete a minimum qualifying run of seven consecutive days in the same venue. Feature films must have a running time of more than 40 minutes.”
But Best Picture eligibility is different. Films under consideration must not only hit the general entry threshold but also submit a confidential Academy Representation and Inclusion Standards (RAISE) form. From there, films must meet two of the four RAISE requirements in addition to the expanded theatrical eligibility requirement, “which includes a theatrical run of seven days, consecutive or non-consecutive, in 10 of the top 50 U.S. markets, no later than 45 days after the initial release in 2024.”
“Eligibility in the Best Picture category is subject to change if late-in-the-year films do not complete the planned expanded theatrical run by Jan. 24, 2025,” added the Academy.
The RAISE requirements focus on diversity and inclusion. All eligible Best Picture contenders must clear two of four hurdles focused on onscreen representation (either in subject or cast), diversity among department heads (at least two department heads from an underserved group or six crew members from underrepresented backgrounds), “industry access opportunities,” and diversity among marketing and public relations staff.
This year’s roster of films includes all the expected Best Picture contenders, including Golden Globe winners The Brutalist and Emilia Perez, and top hopefuls like Anora, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, and The Substance.
Oscar nominations voting begins on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET and concludes on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
