Outlander’s Sam Heughan Says ‘Thank You, Jamie’ as He Puts Last Touch on the Series Finale — Watch
It’s all over but the showing-up-as-a-ghost-200-years-in-the-future.
Outlander star Sam Heughan announced Tuesday that he’s fulfilled his final duties playing James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser. You might’ve thought that happened when the Starz series announced that filming had wrapped in September. Or when some of the cast had to go back later for reshoots. But nope: As Heughan says in the video below, he’s now performed “the last ADR” — or re-recording of dialogue that might not have been captured cleanly during filming — “on Outlander completed, on the Universal lot.”

Heughan called the experience “very emotional” and added that he was excited to find out what the show’s passionate fans think of the series’ finale.
“It’s going to be quite, quite an emotional one,” he said, chuckling. “I know you’re going to love it.”
Heughan wrapped his post with a brief moment of gratitude for his character, saying, “Thank you, Jamie.”
Season 7 of the time-travel drama ended with a huge question mark: Had the daughter Claire thought was stillborn decades before somehow survived? (Read a full recap, and hear what Heughan had to say on the matter.) In January, Outlander co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts assured TVLine that the show wouldn’t leave its viewers hanging.
“Obviously it’s a cliffhanger,” he said. “But hopefully we tie it up in a bow with the answers and the explanations and what happens and the ramifications of all that on Jamie and Claire.”
Starz has not yet announced a premiere date for Outlander‘s final season. However, the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which follows the love stories of Jamie’s and Claire’s parents, will get underway this summer.
