OWN Snips Series About Dad With 34 Kids

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has decided not to go forward with a docu-series about Jay Williams, a man who appeared on OWN’s original series Iyanla: Fix My Life claiming to have fathered 34 children with 17 different women. The spinoff series was announced in March by the network and created a stir almost immediately.

OWN confirmed the decision this afternoon.

The spinoff was to follow Jay as he works to put his life and relationships in order guided by Iyanla Vanzant, the spiritual coach who found him for her own OWN series — that arc required a multi-part “mega fix” to help Williams. The new series was to focus on working on maing new connections with his family, his children and the mothers of his children. It had been slated to premiere in September and was being co-produced by OWN and Evolution Media.
