The last few years for Pamela Anderson have been important ones. She was able to reframe her narrative after years of people telling her story in their own words about her rise to fame, that Tommy Lee sex tape, and her complicated personal life. It was her 2023 book, Love, Pamela: A Memoir of Prose, Poetry, and Truth, that set the record straight and released her from everything holding her back.

That freedom has brought her back to the forefront of Hollywood, and if she’s not commanding the red carpet with her gorgeous makeup-free face, she’s back on set where she belongs. And the buzz for her new project, The Last Showgirl, is not only good — it’s Oscar-worthy. Anderson plays a Las Vegas dancer who loses her way in life after her show closes suddenly after 30 years. She has to pick up the pieces of her personal and professional life, and it isn’t easy.
Joining Anderson is a stacked cast filled with major talent, including Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, and Billie Lourd. The award show season buzz is already beginning ahead of the film’s premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
“Combined with a captivating narrative, this film embodies the strength, resilience, and creativity of female voices in independent cinema,” the film’s production company, Goodfellas Head of Sales Eva Diederix and Utopia VP of Sales Marie Zeniter wrote in a statement to Deadline. “Pamela’s performance shows a very different side of her, adding depth to the iconic Las Vegas showgirl. As we embark on this journey, we can’t wait for audiences worldwide to experience the magic of this film.”
It’s a huge turn of events for Anderson who hasn’t been a lead in a film in years. The entertainment industry is rediscovering her talent that has been hidden for a while. All it took was her memoir, and Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, to refresh everyone’s memories of how fabulous she is. It might be the sweetest sign of success seeing Anderson possibly nominated for an Oscar, all because she believed in herself.
“Success is living your life as you want,” Anderson told High Snobiety magazine in March. “I feel successful because I’ve overcome and gotten through certain things and feelings.” And Hollywood is welcoming her back with open arms.
