‘Paradise’ reunites Sterling K. Brown with ‘This Is Us’ creator Dan Fogelman: Watch the trailer
“This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman returns to television with “Paradise,” a mysterious new Hulu series set to premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, with three episodes, after which new episodes will premiere on the streaming service weekly. Watch the first official trailer for the drama above.
According to Hulu’s official synopsis, “Paradise” “is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.” At the center of that investigation is Xavier Collins (played by Emmy-winning “This Is Us” star Sterling K. Brown), who is enlisted to protect former president Cal Bradford (James Marsden), only to find him dead one morning. Will he find the killer? Is he the killer?

The trailer is light on details. At one point Collins is “entrusted with top secret national security information” and then is questioned by Sarah Shahi, who directs him how to answer. “This Is Us” was similarly vague when it began, telling parallel stories before revealing that it was actually following one family in different time periods. Whether “Paradise” will have a similar foundational twist remains to be seen, but the pedigree for the new show is impressive either way.
In addition to Brown, who has an Oscar nomination for “American Fiction” in addition to his three Emmy statuettes, and Marsden, who recently earned his first Emmy nom for playing a version of himself in “Jury Duty,” the series features Julianne Nicholson, who won an Emmy for her supporting role in the limited series “Mare of Easttown.” Rounding out the cast are Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin, and Percy Daggs IV. Brown is also an executive producer of the series, along with John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Jess Rosenthal, and Steve Beers, all of whom are also “This Is Us” alums. What do you think of embarking on a new mystery with this team?
