Parents of R. Kelly’s Girlfriend ‘Take Full Responsibility’ for Their Daughter Ending Up With Him
The parents of Azriel Clary, one of R. Kelly‘s live-in girlfriends, do not blame anyone else for their daughter being with the singer, except themselves.
Alice and Angelo Clary sat down with Gayle King for an interview that aired Wednesday on “CBS This Morning.” During the conversation, King asked if they felt responsible for their daughter’s situation.
“I take full responsibility,” Angelo responded. “We never denied responsibility … I feel like I failed my daughter because I should have saw different signs. I should have saw the change in my baby girl.”
Azriel’s mother told Gayle she had heard rumors of a suicide pact among the girls, something Angelo said was particularly troubling to them.
“[O]our daughter had experience with trying to do it,” Angelo explained. “See, everybody else can talk it. But it’s nothing like – to see a father coming in the house and seeing your daughter submerged in water. And you have to pick her up and try to get her to the hospital. See, I’ve been through that. So while everybody else may take this lightly … it’s real life for us.”
Last week, Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage, the parents of Joycelyn Savage, sat down with Gayle King in response to R. Kelly’s interview. The couple said they believe their relationship can be repaired with Joycelyn, but want Kelly to “rot in jail.”
