Patrick Mahomes Makes Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift’s Interest in Football

Patrick Mahomes shared new insight into Taylor Swift’s interest in football during a recent interview with NBC sports analyst Chris Simms.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback spoke with Simms for a wide-ranging video interview that the news network shared online on Thursday, Aug. 29, just days before the 2024 NFL season is due to begin. The first game kicks off next Thursday, Sept. 5, as the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens.

Mahomes in February led the Chiefs to the team’s second consecutive Super Bowl victory, the 28-year-old star NFL quarterback’s third of his career. While speaking with Simms about the last season, Mahomes was asked to reflect on some of the distractions the team faced, including tight end Travis Kelce’s then-new relationship with the pop superstar.

Swift, 34, was spotted attending several Chiefs games in person during the 2023 season and even made it into the stadium to watch the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Mahomes spoke of how the “Cruel Summer” songstress’ presence was positive for his team and football in general, explaining that it was “cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football,” a reality he can relate to as a “girl dad” himself.

Mahomes described the 14-time Grammy Award winner as “genuine and cool” before mentioning a new detail regarding her curiosity about the sport.

“She’s really interested in football, and she asks a lot of great questions,” he said. “She started drawing up plays, we might have to put one in.”

The idea of a Swift-designed play excited many of the singer’s fans who commented on a clip of Mahomes’ interview that began circulating on social media in the hours after the interview was released.

“I hope @PatrickMahomes tells us if any of those plays ever gets put into action ??,” one fan wrote.

“DRAWING UP PLAYS HELP,” a Swiftie exclaimed.

“If Taylor draws up a play and they name it like the taylor shift or swift hook or something and actually run it..wow that would be awesome,” another fan suggested.

With Swift now on a two-month break from her hit international Eras Tour, fans are eager to find out which of the Chiefs’ upcoming games she will attend.
