Penn Badgley and Brittany Snow Weigh in on John Tucker Must Die Sequel

Brittany Snow and Penn Badgley aren’t quite in on this next scheme—not yet, at least.

Months after John Tucker Must Die costars Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel confirmed there was, indeed, a script for the sequel to the 2006 film, Penn and Brittany—who played Kate and Scott respectively—revealed where they stood on the upcoming project.

“Penn, I don’t know if you’ve had a call, but I’ve gotten no call,” Brittany told the Gossip Girl star during the July 3 episode of his Podcrushed podcast, to which he agreed, “Yeah, I’ve had no call, no.”

The You star added, “I mean, it’s maybe possible like the superposition quantum physics, like everything is potentially within the realm of, like, maybe this apple will fall up, I can’t actually say with certainty, but I don't know. I've got the smallest role in the movie. I don't know that I would belong in it anyway.”

However, Brittany noted that the movie—which also starred Ashanti and featured Jenny McCarthy—wouldn’t be the same without him.

“I'm not doing it,” she told her costar, “if you're not doing it.”

But that doesn’t mean Penn isn’t open to the idea of seeing where his character is today, noting, “Never have I even thought of that as a potential thing, but I guess if there was a script, I would read.”

The Pitch Perfect actress went on to explain that she had previously spoken to their costar Arielle—who played Carrie—about a follow-up to the teen comedy “for years because she was trying to get it off the ground.”

“But I didn't know what happened, and it kind of just, I was like, ‘go forth,’ you know?” Brittany explained. “’Go forth with that.’ So that was the last I had heard of it was that she was trying to make it happen, and so I guess she did?” Referring to the script, she added, “I will read whatever, they’ve worked really hard.”

Earlier this year, a few of the pair’s castmates, including Jesse, shared their excitement over the film’s sequel. In fact, the Desperate Housewives alum revealed that fans will be in for a real treat.

"It hits on a lot of similar themes," he told E! News in April, "but through the lens of the current landscape."

Noting that the script is still "very funny," he added, "My character has a great arc. John has a daughter, and, you know, you see how fearful he is that she's going to get John Tuckered."

Until we learn just how special the next installment is on the inside, keep reading for every secret behind the comedy.
