In Yahoo TV’s exclusive extended trailer for Season 3, which premieres on Showtime on May 1, cast members Timothy Dalton (Sir Malcom), Eva Green (Vanessa), Josh Hartnett (Ethan), and Billie Piper (Lily) talk about what’s ahead for their characters in the nine-episode third season. For Sir Malcolm, that’s spending time in the Mexican desert; for Vanessa, it means dealing with her dark days with the assistance of an American therapist, Dr. Seward (played by Season 2 guest star, and now regular cast member, Patti LuPone); Ethan, meanwhile, will become an important ally of Sir Malcolm’s and will be dealing with his daddy issues, as he surrendered to Scotland Yard for his crimes in the Season 2 finale and was headed back to America to face the wrath of his father, Jared Talbot, who will be played by guest star Brian Cox. And then there’s Lily, who will share a new young assistant (played by The Outcast’s Jessica Barden) with Dorian (Reeve Carney).
Also among the new faces in the third season: Wes Studi (Hell on Wheels) as a Native American pal of Ethan’s, Dexter alum Christian Camargo as a zoologist who becomes friends with Vanessa, and Samuel Barnett (John Adams) as Dr. Seward’s secretary.
Penny Dreadful Season 3 premieres May 1 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
