Also a quick message, directly from the mouth of the messenger: As the old adage says, please, DON'T SHOOT ME. These are individual picks directly from our BuzzFeed Community, which we've rounded up for your viewing pleasure, and are not necessarily the opinions of the writer, nor do I agree with all of them...except for, like, maybe eight or nine — but I'll let you guess which ones. OK, bye!
So, without further adieu, here are just a few of the actors people believe could've used one or two extra chemistry screen tests before being cast together:
1.Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in The Hunger Games franchise
"It was so uncomfortable to watch Gale and Katniss’s relationship. They had great friendship chemistry, but it didn’t feel natural whatsoever. It ended up feeling so forced just so there would be a love triangle."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
2.Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis in Happiest Season (2020)
"They didn't have great romantic chemistry. It was much more electric between Kristen's character and Aubrey Plaza's character."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
3.Zooey Deschanel and Mark Wahlberg in The Happening (2008)
"A terrible movie made worse by their terrible chemistry."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
4.Laura Dern and Sam Neill in Jurassic Park (1993)
"One of the greatest movies of all time, and yet their relationship never made sense to me. The movie tried to lead you to believe that they were meant for each other or something, but the chemistry between the two of them was just nonexistent and it didn't even matter in the end. They should've just made them close work colleagues."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
5.Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson in Marry Me (2022)
"I just watched this, and — while there was a lot going on there — I honestly think they might’ve pulled it off if those two had any chemistry whatsoever. It was like watching a couple you totally forget are even together unless they bring it up, and they met at an accountants' conference or something."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
6.Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth in Thor (2011)
"It might just be me, but it felt like they literally didn't care about each other at all."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
7.Kaitlyn Dever and Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
"He had much better chemistry with Laura Dreyfuss in the original Broadway cast. In my opinion, they should have cast someone younger as Evan, and maybe it would’ve been more convincing."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
8.Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
"I have never seen such a bad casting choice in terms of chemistry. They appeared to barely tolerate each other for the whole movie."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
9.Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther (2018)
"I absolutely love them both, and I loved them both in the movie, but I just didn’t buy them as a romantic couple."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
10.Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in Beauty and the Beast (2017)
"While the costuming and set design in the film impressed me immensely, their romance felt rushed and awkward. Both had commendable individual moments, but their connection — the core of the movie's ultimate message — failed to enchant."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
11.Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson in Jungle Cruise (2021)
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
12.Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
"Their romance might have worked if the actors actually had any romantic chemistry. It felt so forced and uncomfortable. If they had done a chemistry test before they got the roles, one of them wouldn’t have been cast."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
13.Ashton Kutcher and Lea Michele in New Year's Eve (2011)
"OK, that's so freaking true. Lea Michele doesn’t seem to have any onscreen chemistry with anybody in any movies/TV shows that she does, though."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
14.Gemma Chan and Richard Madden in Eternals (2021)
"The characters (especially Ikaris) felt horribly forced. Their 'chemistry' felt so dry. I don’t know how Sersi could stand him. He was the most bland character ever put to screen."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
15.Katie Holmes and Christian Bale in Batman Begins (2005)
"I feel like he never had bad chemistry with his costars, but theirs was not what it should have been."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
16.Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal (2009)
"Comedic chemistry? Sure, yes. Romantic or sexual? Not a drop. It felt very forced and uncomfortable."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
17.Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing (1987)
"I hated seeing their painfully forced kisses."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
18.Sophia Coppola and Andy Garcia in The Godfather: Part 3 (1990)
"An absolute dumpster fire."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
19.Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in Four Christmases (2008)
"Their comedic styles are just way too different for them to work together. He needs a girl like Jennifer Lawrence with her real-life personality, maybe not the actual actress because they do have a big age gap, but definitely her personality type. Also, I think that probably their personalities are pretty different off camera. I really just don’t see them really getting along IRL."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
20.Zendaya and Tom Holland in the Spider-Man franchise
"They definitely have chemistry off-screen, but their characters in these movies are written so awkwardly with each other that they have none onscreen."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
21.Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in Serena (2014)
"I thought they had great chemistry in Silver Linings Playbook, but in this it was truly awful."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
22.Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto in the Star Trek franchise
"I thought it was very wooden and forced. Zoe had much better chemistry with Chris Pine, in my opinion."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
23.Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man (2008)
"Unpopular opinion, but I’ve never thought they had chemistry at any point in the MCU. I think they're wonderful actors and wonderful in those films; I just don’t feel the chemistry."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
24.Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser in the Twilight franchise
"Don't hate on me too hard, but the actors who played Carlisle and Esme Cullen had zero chemistry. For what was supposed to be such a sensual world, they had about as much spark as Ned and Maude Flanders."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
25.Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in La La Land (2016)
"Everyone loved that movie, and I wanted to love it because I love to get swept away by a musical! I also love those actors together, but they had no chemistry, and I felt the movie would have been better overall with less well-known actors who were better dancers."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
26.Amy Adams and Henry Cavill in Man of Steel (2013)
"Both are incredible actors who played their roles so well, but I was NOT invested in their relationship anytime they were onscreen together. That could be more due to the directing and writing, but if you’ve seen Henry in The Witcher and Amy in Enchanted, you know what they look like when they have great chemistry with someone."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
27.Lady Gaga and Adam Driver in House of Gucci (2021)
"Their relationship just seemed so forced to me."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
28.Jessica Biel and Nicolas Cage in Next (2007)
"It's so awkward and forced. Trying to watch the romance between them was an absolute joke."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
29.Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the Harry Potter franchise
"Everyone always goes after the movie version of Harry and Ginny, but, in my opinion, these two lost it. They had it, but lost it toward the end. I think they were all just tired in real life, so by the time it got to everyone needing to be together...nothing. No spark, no zing — just meh and forced because it was written that way. Everyone was so excited for their kiss, but it fell flat for me."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
30.And finally: Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004)
"I SAID IT: I HATE THAT MOVIE."
"'Date me or I'll kill myself!' Oh, cool...is this the guy that's trying to interrupt the actual couple the movie will follow? Oh, no...THAT'S the guy we're supposed to want her to be with? YIKESARONI."
Here's a glimpse into their...love(?):
