DE PERE - What does De Pere have that Chicago, New York City and Nashville have, too?

One of the 10 best outdoor concert series in the country.

Knights on the Fox, a summer tradition at St. Norbert College in its 20th year, came in at No. 5 in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice 2023 contest for Best Outdoor Concert Series.

A panel of experts teamed up with 10Best editors to nominate 20 of their favorite summer concert series, and then readers determined the 10 national winners during a four-week voting period. Winners were announced on Friday, with a beachfront series in Somers Point, New Jersey, topping the list.

Each summer, Knights on the Fox invites the community to enjoy free live music along the banks of the Fox River. It’s a scenic backdrop for a night of music that also includes preconcert picnicking. Guests bring their own lawn chairs and blankets and some even come by boat at Thompson Marina.

USA Today 10Best described it as a “laid-back concert series at St. Norbert College has been a popular summertime event since 2003 and continues to attract students and locals alike to enjoy classic rock, jazz, blues, country and more.”

  • July 11: The Cougars

  • July 18: Garrett Thorn

  • July 25: FBI & The Untouchable Horns
