Peso Pluma to bring Exodo Tour to Acrisure Arena on Sept. 6
Mexican singer Peso Pluma has clearly won over the Coachella Valley. Five months after performing on the main stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and a little over a year after his last concert at Acrisure Arena, Peso Pluma is returning on Sept. 6 to the arena as part of his Exodo Tour.
In 2023, the música Mexicana artist from Guadalajara released his third album "Génesis," which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and set the record for the largest streaming week ever for a regional Mexican album. He also won his first Grammy Award for Best Música Mexicana Album. Peso Pluma's fourth album, "éxodo," will be released on June 20.

Peso Pluma's performance at Coachella was a highlight of the festival
As one of the biggest names in music right now, it was no surprise that Peso Pluma had a surprise guest (or four) up his sleeve during his Weekend 1 Coachella set on the main stage. He began his surprises with an appearance from Becky G, who returned the favor after Peso Pluma appeared at her set last year, with the duo playing their 2023 song, “Chanel.”
Peso Pluma then brought out his frequent collaborator Junior H, with the two playing their song, “El Azul,” and he later welcomed Santa Fe Klan, a Mexican rapper who also performed at the festival. The surprises concluded with an appearance from rapper Arcángel for a debut performance of their song, “PESO COMPLETO,” which they released shortly before the festival began.
He also made sure to pay homage to those who came before him in the corridos genre, with a video showing a litany of past and present Mexican artists. Paired with Peso Pluma’s shouts during the show — “?Que vivan los corridos! ?Que viva Mexico!” — the tribute reminded the large crowd that many artists paved the way for him to be on the Coachella Stage.
Peso Pluma's had a rapid rise to prominence
Known for his corridos tumbados (which translates to "knocked down," and is a type of narrative song that features a mix of electronic beats, Latin trap and hip-hop sounds layered with instruments from other Mexican music genres) and the already-established corridos bélicos (translating to "warlike," and heavy on lyrics about drug trafficking and ongoing cartel turf battles in Mexico), Pluma broke into the scene in 2022 with the release of "El Belicón," a corrido anthem on the local narcoculture.
During his Coachella performance, he alluded to the criticism aimed at his music’s occasional references to drug trafficking and gun violence. Mexican officials, including the country’s president, have criticized the music’s themes for what they see as glorifying drug culture, while his bravado has also drawn threats from Mexican cartels, including one in Tijuana last fall that caused Peso Pluma to cancel a concert there.
Born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, Pluma is part of a new generation of young Mexican and Mexican American artists — including Fuerza Regida, Grupo Frontera, Junior H and Natanael Cano, among others — dominating the Billboard, Spotify and Apple Music charts and "removing the stigma of regional music from Mexican music," says the Zapopan native from the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
Pluma has seen eight of his songs land on the Billboard 100. His 2023 collaboration with Eslabon Armado, "Ella Baila Sola," made history as the first regional Mexican song to enter the top five on the all-genre chart.
